Obiano mourn, as flood killed pregnant woman, daughter, two others in Anambra

The Anambra State Governor Chief Willie Obiano has commiserated with the Achebe family of Umuezechi kindred of Umuria Village, Anaku in
Ayamelum Council Area of the state who lost a pregnant woman and her daughter to flood recently.

The pregnant woman and her daughter were said to have drowned in a canal at Coscharis Rice Farm Anaku during a torrential rainfall.

Governor Obiano who insisted on visiting the compound, also presented the sum of N500,000.00 to the family to help assuage their loss.

Presenting the money, Governor Obiano consoled the family, adding that the State government had initially provided money to support the burial of the dead.

The Governor also visited the farm where the victims died, where it was also gathered that some persons in the community had gone in anger and destroyed property worth over N50 million.

While condemning the act, Governor Obiano appealed to the people not to take laws into their hands in the event of such incidents but to
report to the appropriate authorities for prompt action.

The Governor also paid condolence to the family of Late Mr Michael Ejimofor Okolie of Ubaru Village, Igbariam and Late Mr Godwin Ezinwa
of Achalla -uno, Nteje both who died in a flash flood.

The traditional ruler of Nteje, Igwe Rowland Odegbo thanked Governor Obiano for running a responsive government that harkens to the plight
of the people.
