Obaseki’s aide quits, alleges tyranny

ANGERED by what he described as the undemocratic way of one Mr. Victor Ebiogbe and his cabal who run the affairs of Esan South East Local Government Area like a personal fiefdom, Special Assistant to Edo State governor, Mr. Louis Imhandegbelo has resigned his appointment with the state government.

According to him: “I must first and foremost commend our pragmatic Governor Godwin Obaseki. As a very visionary leader, he has never treated me badly all this while I was with him as a senior special assistant. I am not resigning because of him. I am quitting my position because of the bad and undemocratic leadership of one Mr. Victor Eboigbe and his cabal in that local government where governmental issues and matters are treated and ran like personal empire.”

Imhandegbelo from Ohordua ward 4 told journalists in Benin yesterday that he decided to quit because of as a grass root politician who worked tirelessly to ensure APC’s victory in the 2016 election, he remarked that he ought to have a say in the matters that concern his ward and people.

He lasted out at Eboigbe, noting that he has continued to embarrass members of the party through his bad leadership and so was no longer comfortable with him.

The ex-special assistant added:“It is very important for our party members to know that while some of us that are progressive in the party are trying to build the party to regain and reclaim for our great party in the Esan South East, Mr. Victor Eboigbe and his cabal are busy chasing away members from the party to other political parties, especially those of us who supported Peter Aguele in the last local government chairmanship primaries. I also want to use this medium to call on our amiable governor to call Victor and others to order else APC will lose that local government to opposition party come 2019 general elections.”

Imhandegbelo said that he has since forwarded his letter of resignation to the office of the Secretary to the State Government, emphasizing that as a politician, he didn’t regret anything.

He said that he was still ready to ready to serve his people but was yet to make up his mind as regards the party to join.

He said: “I will tell the people of Ohordua my next move. I’m also sorry if my resignation has caused His Excellency any inconvenience. I must move ahead with my life because when one way closes, many more are open.”
