Godwin Obaseki, the governor of Edo State, has approved the appointment of a top travel journalist and newspaper editor, Mr Andrew Okungbowa, as his new Chief Press Secretary.
Osarodion Ogie, Secretary to the Edo State Government, in a statement on Tuesday, July 25, stated that Okungbowa’s appointment takes immediate effect.
Okungbowa is a graduate of Theatre Arts from the University of Benin and holds a Master’s degree in English from the University of Lagos. He was a former president of the Association of Travel and Tourism writers of Nigeria (ANJET) and weekend editor with the Daily Telegraph newspapers in Lagos.
Well-travelled, Andrew Okungbowa was at a point in his career, a staff of the Guardian newspapers, and helped stabilised the National Association of Tour Operators of Nigeria (NATOP) as Executive Secretary and before his appointment, Special Adviser on Inter Government relations to President, Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN), Mr Nkereweum Onung.
