Obasa’s impeachment has no external influence — Lagos APC

Published by

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has debunked the involvement of the Lagos APC and the executive in the impeachment of the former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa.

According to the spokesman of the party, Hon. Seye Oladejo, the impeachment process was wholly the affair of the House, noting that it had no external influence.

The former Speaker, Obasa, was impeached by members of the House and was replaced by Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda on Monday.

Oladejo observed that the impeachment process was a reflection of the independence of the legislative arm of the government.

He stated, “His impeachment is not a party affair, it’s the entire business of the House of Assembly, it has nothing to do with the party. They enjoy their independence as one of the three tiers of government.

Therefore, as an independent body, we have to accept what the members of the House have put in the public domain. Politics is about intrigues and interests, and the only thing that is permanent is your interest at a particular time as a politician. That is universal; it’s not peculiar to Nigeria.”

He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to delivering good governance and fulfilling its electoral promises to the people of the state.
