ARRANGEMENTS have been concluded to receive former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, at the first agricultural exhibition and symposium of the Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates’ Association (UNIFEMGA), Ogun State chapter.
Other dignitaries expected to grace the one-day programme on Saturday, November 20, 2021, include a former vice chancellor of University of Uyo, Professor Fola Lasisi and the chairman of the Board of Trustees (Bot) OF UNIFEMGA and Pro-Chancellor of Summit University, Offa, Alhaji Rafiu Ebiti.
According to the chairman of the local organising committee, Alhaji Shamsideen Adenopo, the theme of the first-of-its-kind symposium is ‘Agricultural Business and Economic Insecurity: The Way Forward for Entrepreneurs’.
The chairman of the Ogun State chapter of the association, Mr Tairu Olanrewaju, said the maiden event was expected to have young entrepreneurs, food manufacturers, farmer groups, input suppliers, policy makers, agricultural machine and implements fabricators, merchants, financial institutions, product exhibitors and representatives of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) in attendance.
Others, according to him, include major stakeholders who will share and discuss ideas that concern the agric-business sector.
The programme, scheduled to hold at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Ogun State, from 9.00 a.m., will also have the Ogun State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Adeọla Odedina and the Iyalode of Egbaland, Chief Alaba Lawson, in attendance.
Experts slated to give talks at the programme include Dr Abideen Olaiya of the Department of Crop Production and Protection, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) as chairman while the panel of discussants will comprise Alhaji Murthada Adeniji, MD/CEO, Starlink Global and Ideal Ltd., Lagos; Professor Abdul-Razaq Adebowale, Department of Food Science and Technology, FUNAAB; and Dr Muiba Shittu Modupe, Department of Plant Breeding and Seed Technology, FUNAAB.
Other stakeholders expected at the symposium include Dr Nabeel Adeyemi as moderator, Alhaji Abdulfattah Olanlege, National President, UNIFEMGA, as chief host and officers of other branches of UNIFEMGA nationwide.
