OAU student slumps, dies while playing football

A part three student of the Department of Microbiology, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State, OMOTOLA, Akorede Kayode, slumped and died while playing football on Friday, the university has announced.

A statement by the public relations officer of the university, Mr Biodun Olarewaju, said the student was playing football with his colleagues when he suddenly slumped.

He was said to have been subsequently rushed to the university’s Health Centre where he was confirmed dead on arrival.

“The management hereby commiserates with the parents, family, classmates, colleagues and the entire university community over this irreparable loss.

“And may the good Lord grant us all the fortitude to bear the loss,” Abiodun said in a statement on Saturday.
