OAU pays earned allowance to workers

Published by

Authorities of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, on Wednesday announced the payment of earned allowance to its workers, in compliance with the federal government’s directives.

They also implored the striking members of Non Academic Staff of Nigerian Universities (NASU), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and  National Association of Academic Technologists NAAT to shelve their industrial action by resuming duties.

In a press statement signed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of OAU, Mr Abiodun Olarewaju,  a copy of which was made available to the Nigerian Tribune in Osogbo, the institution said “the management of OAU has paid earned allowance to its workers in compliance with the federal government directive that the money released be paid to every segment of the university workforce”.

The statement reads, “all members of the unions, namely “NASU, SSANU and National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) benefited from the earned allowance. It will be recalled that these unions have embarked on strike action against the federal government over an alleged disparity in the disbursement of the allowance to all staff of unions in Nigerian universities”.

“With this development, the management, therefore appeals to its striking workers to sheath their sword and allow peace to reign on campus”.
