The Anambra state coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps NYSC, Chief Kehinde Aremu, has warned corps members to avoid unnecessary journey while in service and to work with an open mind and endeavour to leave indelible as well as enduring mark in their host communities.
Aremu, gave the warning during the closing ceremonies of the 2019 Batch C Stream 1 Corps members’ orientation course at Umuawulu/Mbaukwu, in Awka South Local Government Area of the state.
” As we have warned you, avoid unnecessary journeys, spend your time in Anambra and imbibe the spirit of Anambra which is that of resilience, entrepreneurship, hope, love and unity”
He disclosed that a total of 1888 corps members went through the orientation course in Anambra state and that about 500 others who were dislodged to Enugu and Delta States because of fears of the unavailability of its facilities would be back to Anambra.
The State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, represented by the State Head of Service, Barrister Harry Uduh, in his closing remarks, urged them to utilise their intellect, resourcefulness and understanding positively during their service year.
“You can do a lot to uplift the standard of living of our people by rendering service in crucial areas as education, healthcare delivery, legal and environmental protection, agriculture as well as other rural infrastructure development,’’ he said.

“I wish to seize this opportunity to request that the NYSC should locate the South East Skill Acquisition Centre in Anambra state in order to build synergy with the most enterprising state and the largest market in Africa.
He charged the corps members to build upon the in-camp training to prepare themselves to take advantage of the many entrepreneurship opportunities that abound in the state.
“I encourage you to put in your best and wish every one of you an exciting and fulfilling service year.
“It is my honour and privilege to formally declare the 2019 Batch C Stream 1 Orientation Course in Anambra State closed,’’ Obiano concluded.
The state Chairman, Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo, Chief Demian Okeke-Ogene, who was a guest at the ceremony, on his part said, the new permanent orientation camp being built at Umuawulu/Mbaukwu is going to be the best in Nigeria when fulling completed.
He said it is only in Anambra that NYSC is integrated and corps members directly integrated into the community.
He urged Corps members to understand the culture of their place of primary assignment and asked the communities to accept them and make their stay comfortable.
