NYSC praises Sokoto state government for supporting scheme

Sokoto State Government has been commended for its sustained support to the youths corps members deployed to the state.

The chairperson of the national governing board of NYSC, Ambassador Fatima Balla Abubakar made the commendation when she paid a courtesy visit to the Sokoto State Governor, Rt hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal at government house Sokoto.

She described Sokoto as a unique state in terms of taking adequate care of youths corps members deployed to the state and thanked  Governor Tambuwal for increasing corps members state allowance and ensuring its prompt payment monthly.

Ambassador Fatima also expressed gratitude to the Sokoto state government for the prompt renovation of females hostel razed by fire at the NYSC permanent orientation camp wamakko.

She, however, requested the state government to expand the Lecture hall at the orientation camp, repair the blown off and licking roofs at the NYSC camp, increase the camp’s fence, upgrade its clinic and providing Hilux vehicle to the secretariat as well as provide it with monthly subvention.

She also requested the state government to provide the state NYSC coordinator with a befitting accommodation.

Responding, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal assured that Sokoto communities would continue to be good hosts to youths corps members deployed to the state.

Tambuwal further explained that relationship between Sokoto state government and NYSC has always been robust and wonderful, he commended the state NYSC management for its strides.

Governor Tambuwal said that state government would continue to do whatever is possible to support the scheme in the state.
