NYSC Coordinator lauds Adamawa communities for support to corps members

Published by

The Adamawa Coordinator of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Malam Abubakar Mohammed, has lauded the support and cooperation being given to corps members by communities in the state.

Mohammed made the commendation in an interview with newsmen Monday in Yola while speaking against the backdrop of 11 corps members that served in the state who made the list of 168 awardees at last Friday’s Presidential NYSC Honours Award.

Mohammed said that despite the perception that Adamawa was facing security challenges, corps members deployed to the state who stayed and served enjoyed the support of communities to the extent of putting in their best and winning national awards.

“We had 11 awardees that served in Adamawa; that’s a good number considering the fact that Adamawa is presumed to be among the three states facing challenges in the North East.

“We did not only secure 11 awardees but also had one of the best female awardees.

“Even among the five best awardees for 2015, 2016 and 2017, Adamawa is leading in each category. That has made us proud,” Mohammed said.

He urged serving corps members to emulate the awardees by being committed to their primary assignment and community development programmes.

While urging communities who benefitted from projects of Corps members to safeguard and improve those projects, Mohammed called for more community support to corps members in the state.
