NYSC carnival, avenue for showcasing Nigeria’s cultural heritage — Anambra Coordinator

The periodic cultural carnival organized by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has been described as an avenue to showcase the cultural heritage of Nigeria.

This assertion was made by the Anambra State NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Blessing Ikene Iruma during the 2023 Batch C Stream 1 Corps Members display of cultures of ten out of more than 300 ethnic nationalisties in the country at the Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC Unity Permanent Orientation Camp, Umuawulu/Mbaukwu, Awka Local Government Area, on Saturday.

She said that some aspects of the culture like music, traditional food, systems of marriage as well as art could be carefully harvested and turned into wealth by exporting them.

She explained that through such means, many Nigerian youth could be gainfully employed.

Iruma urged youth organisations in various communities in the state, to look at the benefits of the Nigerian culture, harvest them and use them to develop self and the society at large.

Tribune Online gathered that the results of the Cultural Carnival competition are as follows: first position went to 4 platoon, second to third platoon while the third position was merited by 10 platoon.
