OVER 6,000 youths from Nigeria have indicated their interests to participate at this year’s National Youth Conference, organised by the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports Development, in conjunction with some corporate brands and youth groups in the country.
The conference, according to the organisers will have its thematic focus woven around innovation, technology, creatives, governance, politics, education and sport among other topical issues.
Speaking at a media briefing to announce the forthcoming three-day event, scheduled for Abuja, this month, October, Conference Coordinator, Miss Nkechi Obi, stated that besides the 370 delegates expected to physically participate in the National Youth Conference 2021, a record of over 6,000 youths have registered to participate virtually.
She explained that the conference is designed as a forum where the nation’s youths will have the opportunity of baring their minds on this topical issues, in the presence of state actors.
Nkechi expressed delight that the forthcoming conference has continued to generate interests among the nation’s youths, few weeks to its commencement, as evidenced in the number of youths, aged between 18 and 35, that had registered online.
“We are also delighted at the interests coming from the nation’s private sector and development agencies,” she added.
According to her, the registration data, showing participants’ preferences, regarding the issues to be discussed, would dictate the tempo and depth of the conversations at the conference, expected to be flagged off by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Event’s Media Lead, Gbenga Olorunpomi, expressed the delight at the enthusiasm of the young Nigerians to the forthcoming conference, noting that the youths are increasingly getting ready to take a front seat in the nation’s affairs.
