Nutritious food fair will attract 5,000 participants – Kaduna govt

The Kaduna State government has announced that the 9th edition of the Nutritious Food Fair in 2023, held in the state, is expected to draw over 5,000 participants from across the country.

This collaborative effort with Harvest Plus, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, the Federal Ministry of Health, and the state government will see participation from exhibitors nationwide.

A statement from Aisha Muhammad, a Director in the Budget and Planning Commission, Kaduna, revealed that the two-day event anticipates the presence of 100 commercial exhibitors, government officials, key private sector players, and 5,000 participants.

The food fair promises to offer a diverse range of activities, including business discussions, deal rooms, a quiz competition (NutriQuiz), a cooking competition (Nutrikitchen), job clinics, entertainment, and hands-on training.

Beyond its celebratory nature, the fair aims to serve as an operational platform for collective engagement, learning, and job creation for youths. It is poised to foster new business linkages, opportunities, and synergies within the nutritious food sector.

Themed “Transforming Food Systems for Improved Nutrition and Climate Resilience,” this year’s edition aims to expose exhibitors to innovative techniques in response to climate change impacts on food systems.

The fair aligns with the Kaduna government’s development agenda, exemplified by its commitment to providing an enabling environment stimulating investment in the nutritious food sector. The overarching goal is to ensure universal access to nutritious food for every resident of Kaduna State.

The annual two-day event is expected to attract key stakeholders in the nutritious food space, including policymakers, researchers, farmers, and food processors.

This gathering will serve as a platform to showcase and market innovations, share updates, and discuss emerging issues within the nutritious food sector.

The statement emphasises the fair’s significance in advancing the goals of the Kaduna government’s development agenda and promoting sustainable practices in the face of evolving challenges.
