NURTW debunks involvement in BCAN inauguration disruption

Published by

The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has denied allegations linking its newly elected president, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya (aka MC Oluomo), to thugs and hoodlums who disrupted the Bus Conductor Association of Nigeria’s (BCAN) inauguration at the Nigeria Union of Journalists secretariat in Abuja.

The General Secretary of the union, Comrade Kayode Agbeyangi emphasized that the union has no connection with BCAN and therefore couldn’t have planned to disrupt its inauguration. NURTW prides itself as a law-abiding organization committed to maintaining peace.

Regarding allegations that hoodlums wore T-shirts with MC Oluomo’s image, the union suggested that anyone seeking to tarnish its reputation could be behind the act. NURTW, however, called on police and security agencies to investigate and bring those responsible to justice.

“We are in season of politics and it is very possible for anybody who wants to tarnish the image of the union to print T-shirt and imprint the image of our president on it all with the intention of giving dogs bad name to hang it. we are in season of politics,so you can’t rule out things like that. We want to appeal to the Police and other security agencies to step in and bring those behind it to book”

Comrade Kayode Agbeyangi also urged newspapers and online platforms to verify facts before publishing, criticizing the rush to publish without gathering NURTW’s side of the story.

“It is very unfortunate that the report came out in papers and other platforms without input or reaction from our union. Both sides must have contributions in such a situation. We appealed to the press to always do a thorough job and get all the sides in a story.”
