The newly acquired and furnished edifice, located at Massanya street, Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, according to NUP President, Dr Abel Afolayan, would serve as home to all pensioners.
He pointed out that it has become very imperative to have their own headquarters rather than expending huge amount of money every year to rent offices that are not even befitting as home to pensioners.
Despite the lean purse of the Union, as a result of problems in the payment of pensions to its members as at when due, he said the present executive strive to acquire the place, in order to have a central place to pursue the course of the pensioners.
He lamented the plights of pensioners in the country, especially at the states level, saying that the new headquarters would energies them to fight for the interest of their members.
He called on the Federal and state governments to ensure that the pensioners payments are given priority and that they are paid as at when due.
