NUJ wants prompt clearance for ministerial nominee

THE Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council on Monday urged on the senate to promptly screen and clear the ministerial nominee from Kogi State, Professor Stephen Ocheni.

The council in a statement by its chairman, Alhaji Adeiza Momohjimoh, and Secretary, Ademu Sheidu, said the nominee’s wealth of experience is needed at this critical moment of the nation to move forward.

According to the union, the senate has always being a national asset in view of its landmark decisions that have kept the nation afloat, urging it to repeat the feat in the case of the pending clearance of the nominee.

It noted that the move would save Kogi State from its agony arising from the death of the last cabinet member from Kogi, Mr James Ocholi, SAN.

The union also described the Ocheni as a thorough bred academician who supported the union variously as a patron.

His appointment, the union said, is an opportunity for the nation to tap from his wealth of experience.

The union urged the three Senators representing Kogi State to rally round the nominee to ensure his speedy confirmation.
