The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted approval for ten new academic programs at Wesley University, Ondo, in Ondo West local government area of the state.
The approval of the ten new courses brings the total number of undergraduate programmes accredited by the NUC in the school to 60.
The approval was conveyed in an official letter dated 27th of January 2025 from the NUC Secretariat, addressed to the Vice Chancellor of the Wesley University.
The letter said the approval of the ten new courses follows a resource verification visit by a panel of experts to assess the university’s human and material resources.

The letter signed by the Acting Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar Girei, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, the NUC confirmed that the newly approved programs will run in the main campus of the University with effect from 2024/2025 academic session.
The letter reads: “I am to add that the approval does not cover the part-time mode of delivery of the programme. Before the part-time mode of any undergraduate programme can commence, a request should be forwarded to the Commission foi frfiher processing.
“The programme shall bear only the approved title and nomenclature and any change will require the approval of the Commission.
“The University is enjoined to provide adequate human and material resources for the development and growth of the approved programme”
Confirming the development, the Vice Chancellor of Wesley University, Rt. Revd Prof. Sunday Obeka, said the approval marks a significant milestone for Wesley University by enhancing its academic offerings and providing more opportunities for students in diverse fields of study.
He described the NUC’s approval for the new programmes as timely and a reflection of the university’s readiness to train quality human resources that will impact the society.
He listed the new approved programmes to include, Entrepreneurship, Office Management Technology, Surveying, Optometry, Public Health and Radiography
Others include, Urban and Regional Planning, Estate Management, Economics and Community Health.
Obeka advised prospective students to apply now for these programs as the university prepares to commence full academic activities for the approved courses.
