This was contained in a statement issued in Kaduna on Sunday and signed by the Director General of the Institute, Professor Garba Dahuwa Azare.
Speaking during the flag off of the training, the Minister of State for Education, Professor Anthony Gozie Anwukah, said the training of the teachers would enable the participants to equip themselves with skills and knowledge in the Special Education Needs and Disabilities(SENDs).
Anwukah revealed further that there are many children in the country that wants to learn and this will go a long way in addressing this challenge.
The Minister charged the participants to cascade the training to other colleagues at their various schools after the training.
The Chairman of NTI Governing Council, who was also the Chairman of the occasion, Senator Kaka Mallam Yale, said the present administration is irrevocably committed to the pursuit of its set agenda for change through the provision of quality education for its citizens.
Yale remarked that was the reason behind the government’s support for any programme that seeks to empower its citizens to be able to compete favourably with their peers in other countries of the world.

“The Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SENDs) workshop aims to equip the participating teachers with necessary skills and knowledge on how to properly integrate special needs children into the mainstream classrooms.
Earlier in his welcome address, Prof. Garba Dahuwa Azare, the director-general and Chief Executive of the National Teachers’ Institute, Kaduna, said education is a vehicle through which citizens of all classes and strata are given equal opportunity to realise their aspirations in life.
“This is without prejudice to their socio-economic background, the status of their physical and mental abilities as well as gender and other mundane consideration.
To this end, the NTI boss revealed that 666 primary and secondary school teachers benefitted from the training which was held across the country simultaneously.
