“We are proud to note and associate with the fact that the prompt passage of the NTDC 2017 Amendment Act was the outcome of the intensive seriousness of purpose and passionate drive of Mr Folorunso Folarin Coker who geared the entire workers of NTDC, serious minded stakeholders in the tourism sector by supporting the Senate at ensuring the birth of a new dawn in the tourism sector
In a statement made available to the media on Monday in Lagos and signed by its Secretary General, Prince Adewale Martins, the association noted “The tourism sector will not forget the conduct, the drifts, acts and deeds of Mr Coker not just because of the passage of the Act but of maintaining his sense of purpose and refused to be intimidated by those who do not want a new dawn of productive performance of NTDC”
He remarked “ History also will not forget in hurry those who because of their selfish ends and self aggrandizement embraced unwholesome acts of sponsoring media attacks on the Bill for standing against the progressive move of the Senate , the NTDC and the tourism sector in general”
Prince Martins pointed out “It is evidently clear that Mr Coker is cut and thoroughly honed both intellectually and in experience to direct the affairs of the corporation. He has within 6 months of his appointment concerned himself with laying the fundamentals and planting the necessary legal framework for the conduct of tourism business and development in Nigeria”
“We have also noted the drift of the Director – General who has relegated his personality to the background at NTDC but rather dishing out rich contents of tourism branding as exemplified by his Tour Nigeria vision which places emphasis on the enhancement of domestic tourism”
Prince Martins called on Mr Folarin Coker not to rest on his oars “we implore the Director- General, NTDC not to rest on his oars but to continue in injecting hydra vibrancy into projecting and development of tourism in Nigeria
He also called on the director- generals of other parastatals in the tourism sector to “borrow a leaf from the acts of Cokerwho has done the needful by planting a solid structure and laying a sustainable foundation for his parastatal”
