Nsukka residents laud prompt evacuation of waste by ESWAMA

SOME residents of Nsukka town have applauded Enugu State Waste Management Authority (ESWAMA) for its prompt evacuation of refuse heaps on strategic locations in the town.

The residents in a separate interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Nsukka on Tuesday said that the prompt evacuation of refuse heaps by workers of the agency had made Nsukka town to be neat.

Mr Chris Onyishi, a secondary school principal, said that ESWAMA workers should be commended for their dedication to work.

“I commend ESWAMA workers for the prompt evacuation of refuse heaps at various locations in Nsukka town.

“Every part of the town has continued to be neat as refuse heaps are evacuated on daily basis.

“As a result of this good performance many residents now pay ESWAMA monthly bill without anybody reminding them,’’ he said.

Mrs Florence Ozioko, a health worker, said the prompt disposal of waste by ESWAMA would go a long way to improve the health of residents.

“This prompt evacuation of refuse means that residents will always breathe fresh air because of the clean environment.

“I commend Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who gives special attention to all issues concerning the health of Enugu State residents,’’ she said.

Mr Jonah Ezema, a civil servant, said Ugwuanyi had done well as a governor.

According to him, before, refuse heaps in Nsukka town would stay weeks as well as smelling before they would be evacuated by ESWAMA but since Ugwuanyi assumed office, on daily basis, you would see ESWAMA workers evacuating refuse in every part of Nsukka town.

“The present administration in Enugu State understands that health is wealth, contrary to what was obtainable in the past.

“Everybody in Nsukka town is happy about the dedication of the authority in the prompt evacuation of waste from refuse bins located in various locations.

“I urge residents to reciprocate this good performance by paying their ESWAMA monthly bills promptly as well as keeping their environment clean,’’ he said.
