Ayinla, an indigene of Saki in Oyo State, who was said to be preparing for his wedding ceremony, was said to have been assassinated by yet to be identified assailants, early Wednesday morning, at a rented apartment at Piwoyi in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Abuja.
Investigations by the Tribune Online revealed that the victim, who relocated from Mararaba in Nasarawa State to Piwoyi in less than six months, was gruesomely murdered in the area.
One of the witnesses told the Tribune Online that, “he did his one-year compulsory industrial attachment with the agency, and because he was a hardworking man, the agency then retained him after his attachment.”
Another conflicting report said that he was not a direct staff of the agency, as that the Cooperative Society only engaged his services after his industrial attachment.
When Tribune Online visited the house, his landlord, Mai Kasuwa Dauda, who described him as an easy-going man, said the residents woke up to find him dead few minutes before six in the morning.
“You can see that I am not staying with them in that compound. The other co-tenants woke up to prepare for work when they found that the door to his room was opened and when they were calling him, there was no response and this prompted them to go inside where they discovered that he has been killed. They then came to my own compound to inform me, and that was before six in the morning,” the landlord said.
Mai Dauda, who further described him as a straightforward man, said: “I have never seen any questionable character in him since he packed into my house.”
Confirming the incident in his office, the Divisional Police Office (DPO), Lugbe Police Station, Tunde Osuma, a Superintendent of Police (SP), said investigations were still on-going, as police have gotten a clue into the killing.
“Police found him dead and we have commenced investigations to unravel those behind the killing,” he assured.
