NSE indicators down 0.12%

Trading on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) opened on Monday on a downward trend with the market indicators decreasing by 0.12 per cent due to profit-taking.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the market capitalisation shed N14 billion or 0.12 per cent to close at N11.489 trillion against N11.503 trillion recorded on Friday.

In the same vein, the All-Share Index which opened at 33,276.68 lost 41.4 points or 0.12 per cent to close at 33,235.28.

A breakdown of the price movement showed that major blue chips posted price depreciation with Nestle leading the pack by N40 to close at N924 per share.

Total trailed with a loss of N11 to close at N271, while 7UP lost N4.54 to close at N90 per share.

International Breweries depreciated by N2.78 to close at N29.45 while Seplat was down by N2.17 to close at N466.39 per share.

On the other hand, Okomu Oil Palm led the gainers’ table by N3.03 to close at N63.66 per share.

PZ Industries followed with a gain of N2.05 to close at N24 and Ashaka Cement appreciated by  N1.17 to close at N12.77 per share.

Nigerian Breweries garnered N1.01 to close at N157.01, while Stanbic IBTC improved by 49k to close at N29.49 per share.

The volume of shares traded closed lower by 26.99 per cent as investors bought and sold 501.08 million shares valued at N6.11 billion transacted in 6,635 deals.

This was against the 686.30 million shares worth N6.07 billion exchanged in 6,785 deals on Friday.

Access Bank was the most active, trading 65.36 million shares valued at N705.34  million.

FCMB Group followed with an account of 60.38 million shares worth N85.87 million while Guaranty Trust Bank traded 58.68 million shares valued at N1.97 billion.

Transcorp sold 45.53 million shares worth N74.56 million, while FBN Holdings traded 39.69 million shares valued at N 270.55 million.
