NSE experts task FG on infrastructural development in rural communities

EXPERTS under the umbrella of Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has tasked the Federal Government( FG) on prioritizing critical infrastructure development in the rural communities.

It said only with this is the country guaranteed of genuine and sustainable development.

President of the NSE, Engr Adekunle Mokuolu made the call during a press conference held yesterday on the 2018 National Engineering Conference and Annual General Meeting in Abuja.

He said it is capable of boosting productivity and creating wealth.

According to him, in the last six decades, NSE advocacies and intellectual interventions have been focused on proffering smart development solutions for the country.

He said: “In Nigeria, it has been an uphill task getting successive governments to understand the importance of indigenous engineering innovations to national economic and social development.

“NSE holds the conviction that provision of critical infrastructure in the rural communities must take prominence in any government’s agenda if the goal of boosting productivity and creating wealth will be achieved.”

Speaking on the 2018 conference, he said it would hold between November 26th and Friday, November 30, 2018. The theme of the conference will be,” Sustainable Engineering Infrastructure and Accelerated Rural Development.”

He commended the Federal Government Presidential Executive Order 5 which he said has assisted local engineers.

Mokuolu described the Order as a call to action for the engineers, stressing that a session on the conference would be dedicated to dissecting the policy document and further take advantage of the opportunities inherent in it.

On the NSE Corporate Social Responsibility, the president disclosed that an NSE electrification project has commenced in Juji Yanma, Juji Gabas, Ajaita, Unguwan Madaki and Baban Saura in selected communities in Kaduna State.
