AS another recruitment is around the corner, authorities of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), have been implored to consider the old volunteers which cut across the country.
Pioneer volunteers of the NSCDC, Osun State command, have also lauded the federal government’s efforts in curtailing activities of insurgents across the country, especially in the area of combating vandalism of electricity infrastructure and petroleum pipelines among others.

This is contained in a release by the coordinator of the pioneer volunteers, Sunday Oluwaremilekun Oyedokun and made available to newsmen in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
Oyedokun lauded the submission of Mr Goodluck Opiah Nanah, representing Ohaji Egbema Oru-West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in the 8th Assembly on the matter.
“This singular act of patriotism of the Hon.Goodluck Opiah that bothers on the fact that the volunteers of NSCDC must be integrated into the corps came to the fore on 23rd of March, 2017. He was quoted as saying that the plight of the old volunteers of the NSCDC who are yet to be absorbed into the corps must be looked into holistically, “they said.
The statement quoted Nanah as recalling that before the formal adoption of the NSDCD as a paramilitary organisation by the federal government, recruitments into the corps was voluntary by individuals who desired to serve their fatherland.
Oyedokun maintained that the NSCDC, since its inception, had been complimenting the efforts of other security agencies in the country to checkmate crime and ensure safety of lives and property.
According to the Osun State coordinator of the old volunteers of the NSCDC, there was no concrete effort or plan to absorb majority of the volunteers into the fold since 1988, nothing that the development had worsened unemployment situation in the country.
He therefore appealed to the federal government and the leaders of the corps to “seriously consider the old volunteers and integrate them into the NSCDC without further delay.
