The NSCDC Commandant in Plateau, Mr Solomon Olasupo, told newsmen in Jos on Tuesday that 3,500 litres of the product were confiscated from illegal sellers of the commodity during the operation.
He described those who engaged in the nefarious act as economic saboteurs, saying that the command had declared war against them.
Olasupo, who visited the black market sites in Jos, regretted that most of the black marketers were cited opposite the NNPC mega fuel station in Jos.
He said they hoard and divert the fuel to create artificial scarcity to maximize profit.
According to him, selling a litre of fuel for between N250 and N300 is inhuman, cruel and unjust as people are subjected to unnecessary hardship.
NAN reports that the major confiscations were made at the popular black market opposite the NNPC mega station along Yakubu Gwon way and from the Dadin Kowa black marketers.
NAN also reports that most of the illegal vendors of the product abandoned their products and ran on sighting the vehicles of the NSCDC.
Olasupo also went to various filling stations within Jos-Bukuru metropolis to ensure that there was no diversion and that the product was not sold in jerry cans.
However, on his arrival at the NNPC subsidiary station on the Building Material Road, it was discovered that one of the filling station attendants was dispensing fuel into a big metal tank in the boot of a vehicle which was later impounded. (NAN)
