The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Zamfara State Command has vowed to collaborate with the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Gusau branch in the fight and the prosecution of criminal elements in the state.
This was disclosed by the Zamfara state NSCDC Commandant Sani Mustapha on Wednesday when he hosted the newly elected executive members of the NBA in the state.
Commandant Sani Mustapha averred that the Corps which operates within the ambiance of its Act of establishment, carries out all domicile functions within the legal purview of the Corps based on the provisions of the enabling Act 2003 and 2007 as amended.
He assured the leadership of the Bar of the readiness of the Corps to always leverage the professional advice of the legal group in order to enhance the smooth prosecution of criminal elements who are bent on truncating the peaceful atmosphere in the state.
He applauded the Commandant General, Dr Abubakar Ahmed Audi mni OFR for his laudable programmes especially, in making sure that the Corps maintains the Alternative Dispute Resolution Unit under the Peace and Conflict Resolution programme of the Corps.
Commandant Sani Mustapha said that the NBA will be instrumental in ensuring that ADR works perfectly in Zamfara State.
He, however, charged the leadership of the NBA to do their best in ensuring a safer Zamfara State with the collaboration of the Corps and other sister agencies.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association Gusau branch, Barrister Muazu Shehu Ahmed Esq. Who led the delegation, showered encomium on the Corps in Zamfara State and the nation at large. He described the Corps as the last hope of the common man.
He said the Corps has performed creditably in safeguarding the rights of ordinary citizens and combating brigandage in the state.
He, therefore, calls for collaboration and synergy with the NBA in order the get rid of undesirable elements in the state.
The NBA Chairman promised to always accord the Corps any form of support and assistance that could lead to the successful prosecution of suspected criminals in the state.
