NSCDC lauds Tantita for curbing oil theft

Published by

Tantita Security Services Limited (TSSNL) has been commended for its role in boosting crude oil production and reviving aquatic life in the creeks of the Niger Delta.

Speaking at the company’s headquarters in Warri, Delta State, the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, said he was on a tour to formations.

He assured that NSCDC remains vigilant, urging Tantita to report any compromised staff immediately.

“We have dismissed about five officers caught aiding and abetting crime.

“The Federal Government is providing logistics and welfare, and we must reciprocate with integrity,” he said.

He lauded Tantita’s initiative to diversify, describing it as “an awesome step” towards economic empowerment and crime reduction.

He further revealed that a number of NSCDC personnel were dismissed last year for compromising their duties, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to integrity in the fight against oil theft.

“You are not the only ones securing pipelines, but you are doing well, particularly in terms of welfare. We will continue to work together to ensure safety and security in the oil sector,” he assured.

Meanwhile, the Managing Director of TSSNL, Chief Kestin Pondi, in his remarks, highlighted the company’s efforts in preventing crime rather than merely reacting to it.

He also credited Tantita’s operations with reducing oil theft and environmental damage.

“As of today, we have surpassed two million barrels per day in crude oil production,” Pondi said. “Our waters are now very clean, and our people can fish again.”

He also praised President Bola Tinubu’s administration for creating a fair environment for private security firms tackling oil theft.

Pondi noted that kidnapping has reduced, though sea piracy remains a challenge, emphasising Tantita’s commitment to restoring an era free of vandalism while praising President Tinubu for creating an enabling environment.
