The Niger State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have intercepted two heavy-duty trucks loaded with vandalized railway slippers and tracks estimated at several millions of naira at Mokwa local government area of the state.

The State Commandant of the NSCDC, Joachim Okafor stated this in a statement issued and made available to journalists in Minna, over the weekend, noting that one of the vehicles laden with suspected vandalised railway slippers, while the other one (articulated vehicle) was loaded with railway tracks, adding that both were on transit to a yet to be ascertained location.

The NSCDC boss however described the illegal activities of economic saboteurs on Federal Government infrastructural facilities which he declared was unacceptable.

He added that when the suspects sighted corps of the command, the drivers took to their heels, abandoning the vehicles suspecting they were accomplices in crime.

The statement added that based on marching orders of the Commandant General, Alhaji Ahmed Abubakar Audi, the command has intensified surveillance and security watch all over critical national assets and infrastructure across the country.

The commandant assured that the case was still under investigation, adding if the owners of the two heavy-duty trucks refused to show up, that the two trucks would be confiscated in a court after the investigation of the case, while the suspects would be arraigned in court for prosecution.

He, however, lamented over the lack of operational vehicles in the state Command of NSCDC Minna and sent a stern warning to those suspected criminals involved in the destruction of public facilities and utilities to desist from such acts, or face the full wrath of the law.
