NSCDC deploys 2000 personnel to Imo ahead Saturday’s guber election

Published by

About 2000 officers and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have been sent to Imo State in respect of the governorship elections held Saturday in the state.

Addressing the 3rd batch of the troupe at the headquarters of the state command early Friday morning, the state commandant, Paul Ozoemena Igwebuike, said that the dispatch was in line with the directive of the Commandant General of the Corps, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, that “contiguous states” should beef up the strength of officers and men of the NSCDC in Imo State during the off-time governorship election held Saturday in the state.

Commandant Igwebuike advised his men to be firm and not compromise, to adopt “international best practices” in the discharge of their duties, and to be professional to ensure a hitch-free election in Imo.

The state commandant informed his men that they were going to work in synergy with other security agencies and in collaboration to secure men and materials for the election to ensure everyone comes out to vote.

About 400 personnel were on the 3rd batch, which made up a total of 2000 officers and men on the mission from Abia State.
