The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Borno, Musa Boyi, has warned protesters that his department will not tolerate actions that cause unrest in the state.
In an interview with the Nigerian Tribune in Maiduguri on Friday, Boyi stated that considering the fragile peace in the state after over a decade of Boko Haram insurgency, everyone must work together to maintain peace and avoid another crisis.
“We will take strong action against those who start protests,” the commandant warned.
Boyi expressed confidence that the NSCDC and other security agencies can stop activities that threaten peace and stability in the state, but noted that community support is crucial.
The warning comes as tensions rise in Nigeria, with protesters demanding action on various issues, including hunger and hardship.
