The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ekiti State Command, said it has arrested a 38-year-old woman identified simply as Folasade for allegedly defrauding an orphanage home in the state to the tune of N1 million.

The state commandant of the NSCDC, Olatunde Fayemi, paraded her alongside six other suspected criminals on Monday in Ado-Ekiti. The state noted that the suspect, who was an employee of the orphanage home, collected the money on behalf of the centre without the knowledge of the management.

According to a statement released by the Public Relations Officer of the command, Afolabi Tolulope, the NSCDC said, “In the process, the management of the home alleged her to have collected over one million naira given by good Samaritans for the aid of the children in their custody.

“Folasade was also accused of having stolen the property of the home, depriving the children of the use of these donated items and relief materials. Upon interrogation, it was discovered from her statement of account that she had been doing this for over nine months before Nemesis caught up with her.”

Muniru, who picked up the bag containing the cash, engaged in the act when the owner dropped the bag and attempted to open an entrance door in her compound. He was arrested after a hot chase and combing of the nearby bush by men of CTU.

“Abiodun, 18 years old, was arrested along the Basiri axis of Ado Ekiti. He was arrested after successfully removing cables and other electric wires from a deserted house. Abiodun, upon preliminary investigation, confessed to having committed the crime.
