Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC), Zamfara state command has arrested a 40-year-old suspect Kasimu Abubakar with 70 pieces of concealed substances known as Indian hemp meant for bandits use in the state.
Parading the suspect on Monday evening at the Zamfara state NSCDC headquarters in Gusau, Commandant Sani Mustafa who spoke through the command public relations officer ASCll Umar Mohammed said the suspect was apprehended at Shinkafi town after an intelligent information.
” The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC), Zamfara state under the able leadership of Commandant Sani Mustafa,today Monday 10th of February 2025, we parade before you the press and general public a suspect by name Kasimu Abubakar who was arrested with large quantity of cannabis on Thursday at 1600 hrs in Shinkafi town area of Zamfara state”.
According him ,the suspect was apprehended in Shinkafi town following an intelligent information from Lagos that a consignment of substances was transported to the town.
” On hearing the information ,our personnel swung into action and apprehended the suspect,we discovered 70 pieces conceal of cannabis wort N1.750million”. He said.
He explained that the suspect Kasimu Abubakar has attempted to bribe the NSCDC with one million naira which they rejected and the two partners in business with Suspect were at large.
” The suspect has made a confessional statement that the Cannabis was to be transported to bandits in Mashema area of Zurmi local government in the state”. He said.
The NSCDC has handed over the suspect to National Drug Law Enforcement Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Zamfara state command for further investigation and necessary measures.” This is in fairness, transparency and collaboration with sister agencies”.
“The command has zero tolerance to corruption and criminality; any suspect apprehended shall face prudent investigation and upon completion, arraigned to a competent court of law for prosecution,” he assured.
