Regarding the illegal mining activities, the Commandant said that the suspect, Mohammed, was arrested by the command’s crack team at a Fulani settlement Budo Musa in Iwajowa Local Government Area of the state on Saturday, February 3, at about 3 pm, when found to be dealing in mining at a neighboring community known as Dabo-Zamia Village.

He was said to have worked in collaboration with a suspected illegal miner without an operation license who is currently at large.

He also informed journalists of a leader of Fulani herdsmen, Yoyo, who was nabbed by NSCDC’s Agoro Rangers in Ilora Town in Afijio Local Government Area for allegedly grazing a herd of cattle on farmland with crops belonging to farmers in the town’s community.

The cattle destroyed farm produce worth about N5 million without any compensation from the suspect, Padonu said.

Speaking further, the Commandant disclosed how two suspects, both of them named Olalekan, invaded shops at Sagbe, Moniya area of Ibadan, where trucks’ spare parts are sold to steal, using face masks.

He said that the suspects would be arraigned in court if found culpable of the offences on conclusion of investigations.
