The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC), Pius Akutah has received an award for patriotic leadership that is contributing positively to the economic development of the country from the Nigerian Patriotism Awards (NPA).
While receiving the award in Abuja, Akutah explained that patriotism is a driver of policies and programmes that are people-friendly and targeted at the development of the nation.
According to him, “This prestigious award event does not only celebrate the remarkable individuals who have contributed to Nigerian development and progress but also serves as a veteran of hope and aspiration to the generation to come.
“It is indeed an honor to be recognized alongside other notable Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in various endeavors toward advancing the development and unity of this our great nation.”
Represented by the Director Special Duties, Alhaji Mustapha Zwbuiru, the ES said “I am deeply humbled by this recognition, and would like to acknowledge the hard work, vision and aspiration, and the commitment of the organizers of this important event.
“As we celebrate this achievement, let us continue to uphold the principles of selfless service, integrity and patriotism in our various capacity, knowing that every effort we put in may contribute to the growth and prosperity of this our great nation.”
In his address, the Chief Executive Officer of NPA, Ephraim Okon said “I welcome all of you to enjoy this night with us as we celebrate individuals and organizations that have worked tirelessly and have gone the extra mile to make sure that Nigeria’s name is not only heard around the world, but is celebrated in all fields of human endeavors.
“Thank you so very much as you join us and as we start this journey. This is a collective journey, the journey that starts between me and you for a Nigeria that we will all be smiling and dancing her development.
“Let’s share the great spirit of patriotism that Nigeria deserves, and may God bless all of us as we sit and enjoy the rhetorics of the vibes of patriotism in all of us. Thank you and welcome to the Nigerian Patriotism awards.”
Others who received awards were Dr. Abu Shattima as Humanitarian of the Year, Professor Ernest Orjinas the Health Professional of the Year, Williams Troost-Ekong as the Sport Personally of the Year, Belema Oil as the Oil and Gas Company of the Year amongst others.
