NRM NEC allegations against me fake- Party National Chairman, Udeh

Ambassador Isaac Udeh, the embattled National Chairman of the National Rescue Movement (NRM), has refuted the allegations leveled against him by the party’s National Executive Council (NEC), asserting that they are fabricated and part of a scheme to oust him from his position.

Udeh’s suspension by the NRM NEC stemmed from accusations of misconduct, financial irregularities, and violations of the party’s constitution.

However, in a recent telephone conversation with journalists, Udeh dismissed these allegations as baseless and characterized them as a targeted attack on his character.

According to Udeh, the accusations detailed in a 15-page document are entirely false and have been orchestrated to tarnish his reputation.

He adamantly asserted his position as the National Chairman of the NRM, affirming that he has no intention of resigning despite the pressure to do so.

In his statement to the press, Udeh expressed his dismay at the swift action taken against him following the allegations, emphasizing that the claims made against him lack substance and factual basis. He remains resolute in his determination to defend his position within the party and refute the allegations levied against him.

The unfolding situation within the NRM underscores the complexities of internal politics and power struggles within political organizations, highlighting the challenges faced by party leaders in maintaining unity and cohesion amidst internal disputes.

“They removed me because of IPAC election. It was supposed to be on the 18th of December last year. So him Chinedu Obi wanted to be the chairman of that party so that he could give a letter to the person representing NRM in IPAC.

“So when they were playing all those things, it backfired. My suspension was on Monday, 23rd of October, 2023. On the 25th, they went to INEC to say that they had appointed Chinedu Obi as national chairman.

“Chinedu Obi is a National Welfare Officer, a shoe-shiner position in any political party. If not for desperation, even if you want to remove me, the next person that ought to take over is the deputy national chairman.

“If the deputy national chairman is not there, it will be the zonal vice chairman from the same zone where the national chairman comes from. And if it’s not the zonal vice chairman, it will be the national secretary and so on.

“But in this case, it is the least person in the political party that is claiming to be the national chairman.

“So when the matter came to INEC, they said it was wrong and that the agenda they used was wrong and it contravened the rules of INEC.”
