NRM chair throws weight behind Fubara gov

The National Chairman of the National Rescue Movement, NRM, Amb. Isaac Udeh has said the party is fully behind the executive governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara over the current crisis in the state.

Ambassador Udeh said Fubara is currently the governor of Rivers state based on the result from the ballot and should be supported to exercise the powers of a governor as he delivers on the mandate given to him by the Rivers people.

Udeh who said this in an interview with newsmen in Abuja stated that Fubara was not only elected by the PDP as the governor of Rivers state but by votes from across the party.

He further directed all members of the NRM to stand with Fubara in the state.

According to him: “I have directed that our entire party, NRM in Rivers State should give Fubara the maximum support and rally round him and prove that he has the support of over eighty-five per cent of the people.

“I want to use this opportunity to assure the governor that my party is solidly behind him across the 23 Local Government Areas LGAs in the state.”

Therefore he is the property of the state of Rivers and owned by all development-inclined citizens and residents of Rivers state.

The Chairman of the National Rescue Movement explained that the governor has shown that he is ready to work from what is happening in the state and so should not be distracted by anyone.

Ambassador Udeh stressed that Fubara is the legitimate political leader of the state and can not be subjected to any kind of override by his predecessor, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesome Wike.

His words: “Fubara has proven to Nigerians that he is ready to work by the great work he is doing. It is practically open for all to see hence nobody should try to box him with one Identity.

He is the governor of Rivers state and deserved the support of all to succeed. He is not governor of People’s Democratic Party, PDP. The election is over, it is time for governance and governance required him to give attention to all corners of River state,” Ambassador Udeh stated.

“I want us to understand that when a candidate emerges from a political party for governor space, presidential contest or any other position, it is not only his party that delivers him at the polls.

“It is based on the manifesto he presents to the public and his place in the public that will make him to win the votes of everybody from across the political divide not only the votes of his political party in the state or country, that makes Fubara the governor of Rivers State not PDP” he emphasized.
