NPTF plans upgrade of Ilorin Police Training School

Management of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) has announced plans to intervene in the upgrading of the Nigeria Police Training School, Ilorin, Kwara state to a world-class standard.

Speaking during a visit of the NPTF management to the Police Training School and the garment factory for the spot assessment of facilities in the two places, the executive secretary of the NPTF, Mohammed Sheidu, also promised to patronize the Kwara Garment Factory, Ilorin for production of police uniforms.

It is recalled that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara state had, during the opening of a two-day management retreat organised by the fund for stakeholders in Ilorin, requested the NPTF to patronize the state’s garment factory for the production of police uniforms, the upgrading of Police Training School, Ilorin, among other projects.

Sheidu, who assured the state government that the fund would intervene in the upgrade of the facilities at the Police Training School, Ilorin, said that it would also patronize the garment factory after necessary talks with the state government.

He said though the Ilorin Police Training School is meant for the training of recruits, the funds would intervene in the rehabilitation and upgrading of its facilities to a world-class standard.

“The facilities (in the police training school) need to be upgraded to a world-class standard,” he said.

At the Kwara State government-owned Garment Factory, Sheidu initiated talks with officials of the factory for possible production of uniforms for officers and men of the Nigerian Police Force.

Impressed by the facilities on the ground, Sheidu urged other state governments to replicate the same in their respective states to encourage local production and end the importation of textile materials.

“The conversation is open with the Kwara state government on how the NPTF can patronize the factory,” he said.
