nPDP: Consultations to continue at various levels —Presidency

Published by
The Presidency on Monday maintained that the meeting between Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and members of the new Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) who are angry with President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressive Congress (APC) for allegedly being marginalised by the ruling party, went well.
The meeting took place at the Vice President’s official residence, Aguda House, at the presidential villa, Abuja behind closed doors.
The group which broke out from the former ruling party helped the APC to power in 2015.
But its members have claimed that they had become increasingly marginalized by the APC and had consequently given an ultimatum to President Buhari to meet with them to iron out their grievances.
Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on media and publicity, Laolu Akande, told the Nigerian Tribune that the meeting was cordial, saying that consultations will commence at all levels.
“The meeting indeed held. It went well. Consultations will continue at various levels,” he said.
The nPDP was also scheduled to meet with the president as a follow up to the meeting with Osinbajo.
It was not clear when the meeting will take place.
