NPA budgets N18.1bn for furniture, transport, wardrobe allowances in 2016

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) is set to disburse N18.1 Billion as operating expenditure for furniture, rent, transport, children education and dressing allowance before the end of this year.

Under the arrangement, workers of the agency are to benefit from N1.4 Billion dressing allowance, N3.9 Billion furniture allowance, N4.1 Billion Transport allowance and N5.1 Billion rent allowance.

NPA’s proposed expenditure for 2016 obtained exclusively revealed that children education allowance/ health scheme is N1.7 Billion while driver’s allowance increased from N117.3 million in 2015 to N1.9 Billion in 2016.

Further findings revealed that funds allocated to some of the items increased slightly when compared to 2015 due to “prevailing economic situations.”

For example, rent allowance increased from N3.8 Billion in 2015 to N5.1Billion in 2016 while drivers allowance increased from N117.3 million in 2015 to N1.9 Billion in 2016.

Nigerian Tribune had earlier reported that if approved by the National Assembly, NPA will spend N241 million before the end of this year on foreign medical expenses.

The sum form part of the N382 million the parastatal has budgeted to cater for its medical expenses within the year 2016.

A breakdown of the total sum indicates that N108.875 is for drugs, N82.400 for local medical expenses while N241 million was budgeted for foreign medical expenses.

Besides, information obtained by our Correspondent revealed that N50 million is earmark for the rehabilitation of clinics in Lagos and Port Harcourt Ports.
