Two agencies under the Federal Ministry of Environment, the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), and the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA), now have new directors-general.
The newly appointed the DGs are Professor Aliyu Jauro (NESREA), who takes over from Dr Lawrence Chidi Anukam, and Musa Idris (NOSDRA), who takes over from Sir Peter Idabor.

The new NESREA DG on assumption declared, “I am here to move the agency to the next level. I expect high standard of professionalism, integrity and dedication to duty.”
Professor Jauro used to be Deputy Director, National Centre for Petroleum Research and Development, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi.
He has a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Chemistry from ATBU, and MSc and PhD degrees in Industrial Chemistry from the same university.
Mr Idris was former Director, Oil fields Assessment at NOSDRA. As DG, he said will prioritise underground water pollution, and ensure timely, effective and appropriate response to oil spills.
