Northern youths pass vote of confidence on Plateau Assembly Speaker

The Northern Youth Association of Nigeria (NYAN) has passed a vote of confidence on the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Gabriel K. Dewan.

The disclosure was made by the National President of the group, Comrade Godiya T. Adams Bogoro, while briefing journalists on the decision of the group on Sunday, March 31, 2024, in Bauchi.

Speaking emphatically to Newsmen, Comrade Godiya Adams said that “Rt. Hon. Gabriel Dewan has actually demonstrated what effective leadership is with his strides so far in the Plateau House of Assembly since his emergence as Speaker in November 2023.”

According to the president of the group, the State Assembly is, for the first time in a very long while, working in unison in a bid to achieve the common goal of delivering quality representation by all members of the house just so as to allow the good people of Plateau State to enjoy the true dividends of democracy.

Comrade Godiya further stressed that the emergence of Rt. Hon. Gabriel Dewan as Speaker of the 10th Assembly in Plateau State is a testament to the fact that Nigerian youths still have a proper place in the Nigerian democratic and leadership space.

According to him, “This gives us reasons to dream dreams while keeping our hopes alive. Speaker Dewan has constituted himself a beacon of hope for youths across the country; he has not only functioned effectively as Speaker but as one that has made all of us proud.”

He stressed further that his acts of humanity and philanthropy, especially to the youth and the downtrodden within society, are ones that cannot be overemphasised.”

According to him, “the fundamental functions of the Assembly are to enact new laws, amend or repeal existing laws, and oversee the Executive. These functions, the 10th Assembly of Plateau State, under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Gabriel Dewan as Speaker, is working with all forms of zeal and commitment to make reality and to the satisfaction of the entire people of Plateau.”

Godiya Adams added, “Several life-transforming bills have been passed in the 10th Assembly of Plateau State under the stewardship of Rt Hon. Dewan; once again, Plateau State is back alive and kicking, and the people are happy.”

“We want to sincerely thank Mr. Speaker, Rt. Hon. Gabriel K. Dewan, and to unequivocally pass a vote of confidence on him and the 10th Assembly of Plateau State. Rt. Hon. Dewan has actually availed himself to us as a pattern for all youths of the country to model their lives after,” he added.

The NYAN National President also said, As youths, we are here to show total support to the Honourable Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly and to the entire members of the House.”
