Northern community exonerates self from rumour of attack in Imo

Northerners living in Imo State have exonerated themselves from the rumour of attack by Miyetti Allah in the state.

A Northern leader in the state and the Senior Special Assistant to Governor of Imo State on Gender Vulnerable Groups Northern Affairs (Men), Hon. Sulaiman Ibrahim Sulaiman said this in a chat with Nigerian Tribune correspondent in Owerri on Sunday.

He advised the people of Imo State to ignore such rumour, which according to him, was misleading and capable of bringing disunity between them and their host communities in the state.

The SSA who dismissed the rumour urged the people to go about their normal daily duties without fear of any attack.

He maintained that the Northerners and the Easterners had a long-existing relationship and would not imagine anything that could separate them.

He said that Northerners had lived in Imo State for decades without any kind of trouble or fight among the two tribes.

On the recent killings of Northerners in the state, Hon. Sulaiman described the incident as a politically motivated one by people whose ulterior motive is to cause enmity among the Northerners and their host community.

He appealed to the Northerners to bear with the ugly situation and take heart; bearing in mind that Allah knows why what happened occurred.

Sulaiman stressed the need for all tribes in the country to embrace peace irrespective of where they are living, noting that a country or state without peace, stands to be disintegrated.

He commended the state government for doing her best in ensuring the protection of lives and property of both the indigenes and non-indigenes in the state and expressed appreciation to the state government for taking it upon herself to take care of the family of those whose children and relations were killed in Imo State.
