The seven governors of the North West zone met in Kaduna recently to find a lasting solution to the security challenges facing the zone.
The meeting which was held at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House, Kaduna was chaired by the chairman of the North West Governors Forum and Katsina State governor, Alhaji Aminu Masari. It was gathered that the crucial meeting which was iniatiated by the Arewa Research and Development Project to discuss issues on security, agriculture, and solid mineral development.
The governors also looked at agricultural development and mining as the alternative economic solution to the current economic crisis, with a view to bringing about headways for the development of the zone.
Speaking at the opening session of the meeting, Gov Masari called on all stakeholders to ensure speedy implementation of all recommendations and agreements reached between the governors and the project facilitators, saying time was against them.
He asked the governors to be more committed and dedicated in the implementation process to ensure speedy implementation of the research projects.
Governors who graced the meeting were the host governor, Mallam Nasir El-rufai, Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Zamfara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari, Kebbi State Governor, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu, Kano state, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, Jigawa state governor, Badaru Abubakar and Katsina state governor, Alhaji Aminu Masari.
