AT least 12 senators, as well as 70 members of the House of Representatives from the All Progressive Congress (APC) drawn from the seven North Western zone, are in Kaduna to drum up support for the Buhari /Osibanjo ticket in 2019 presidential election.

A member of the organising committee who pleaded for anonymity, told the Sunday Tribune at the weekend  that the meeting was coming on the heels of the so-called break away by the R-APC from the ruling APC.

He said the meeting is expected to take place on Sunday, (today) and will be chaired by a Senator.

‘We are in Kaduna to tell the world that we remain bonafide members of the ruling party (APC).  Also, to show our support for Buhari /Osibanjo joint ticket.

He said, the president is from the zone and in politics, you the moral support of your zonal members, which is very important. He said, “the North West lawmakers are solidly behind the president.

‘We are not saying that we don’t have disgruntled elements among us but I can’t assure you that those that will be coming for the solidarity meeting from the zone are in the majority.’

It was gathered that lawmakers from Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, and Jigawa who  will be attending the crucial meeting are already in Kaduna.

Findings by the Sunday Tribune revealed that  9 House of Reps membership will be coming from Kebbi (9), Sokoto (7) Zamfara( 7), Katsina (14), Kano (15), Jigawa (11) and Kaduna (8).

While from the Senate, Kano (2), Sokoto (2), Katsina( 2), Jigawa (2) Zamfara (2) and Kebbi (12).

Even though, the venue of the crucial meeting was not disclosed, it was learnt that a rally will also hold after deliberations.

It will be recalled that on Thursday, some dissatisfied members of the ruling party, mostly from the National Assembly, decided to pull out from the APC and announced the formation of the Reformed All Progressive Congress (R-APC) under the leadership of Buba Galadima.

Galadima claimed that they are the real APC members, saying the government of Buhari had failed, calling him to give way for a more serious candidate that will salvage the country from its recent predicament.

He also announced that each state will form it’s executives from the state to the local government level.
