NON-provision of Certificate of Occupancy ( CofO) has been described as a factor hindering the growth of Churches in Kano state, the minister in charge of Calvary Church, Bishop Ransom Bello has said.
According to him, “even in the past Churches that were affected and burnt down during the crisis were afraid of being rebuilt and thus caused their worshippers to be scattered and not having a place to worship.”
Bishop Bello who disclosed this to pressmen said he had been in Kano, for 40 years and had witnessed a lot of crises that engulfed the state and added that his Church branch at Shagari quarters was razed down to ashes over ten years ago.
He, however, hinted that thought things were changing now because some leaders at the helm of affairs were becoming more friendly saying that former Governors like Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau laid the foundation of accommodating the Christians.
Bishop Bello who also served as state chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN)now clocking 70th years hailed the former governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Gabduje, who he described as a lover of Christians.
He, however, added that with the promise the incumbent governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf made to Christians during the campaign, he believed he will excel in sustaining in ensuring a continuous reigning of peaceful co-existence in the state.
Commenting on his 70th-year celebration, Bishop Bello, disclosed that the celebration was marched with the Church’s annual convention and titled ” Great Dominion convention,” with notable important personalities expected to grace the occasion, which its Thanksgiving slated for Calvary Life Church on Sunday.
Notable Clergy men expected to be in attendance during the celebration were Bishop William Kumuyi of Deeper Life church, Bishop Wale Oke ,leader of Pentecostal church in the country, while governor Yusuf and other notable leaders were been expected to grace the dinner slated for Bishop Bello’ s 70 th years birthday ceremony.
