Bishop Olusina Fape
Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of Lagos, the Most Reverend (Dr) Olusina Fape, has described non-payment of gratuities and pensions of retirees who served both at the Federal and state levels, as an act of wickedness by government against humanity.
He said many retired workers had died without receiving their entitlements, while political office holders elected into office for a period of four years have their pension packages at the completion of their tenure.
Fape, who doubles as the Bishop of Remo (Anglican Communion), stated this in his presidential address presented to the second session of the twelfth synod of the diocese, held at St. Matthias’ Anglican Church, Isote, Sagamu, last Friday.
The theme of the synod is Religion and Work Ethics As Tools for Economic Revival.
Speaking on corruption, Fape noted that the fight to curb the menace had not been done holistically, submitting that the fight was merely platonic.
The bishop noted that the fight against corruption has been a selective one, stating that “are there no corrupt individuals in the ruling party?”
On the 2019 elections, the he appealed to Nigerians to get their Permanent Voter Cards and be part of the nation’s political process for a greater and better Nigeria.
He craved for a political experience without blood-letting, and urged Christians to participate actively by contesting for different offices.
Fape commended the Ogun State government, under the leadership of Senator Ibikunle Amosun, for the giant strides recorded in the area of infrastructural development and security.
