THE National Orientation Agency (NOA), on Wednesday, sensitised stakeholders in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja on steps to be taken in creating more awareness on violence-free elections within the territory.
FCT Director-General of NOA, Mr David Dogo, while sensitising them in Abuja, said with the technical issues that were involved during the elections, there was the need for continued awareness, urging the key stakeholders drawn from FCT Administration (FCTA) to educate the people closer to them on how to adhere strictly to the electoral processes.
According to him, if the civil servants are well sensitised, the message of hitch free election would get across all levels in the territory, considering their proximity to the voters.
Dogo explained that proper orientation of people in rural areas would bring about the successful election, assuring that with the full support of civil servants, there would not be more flouting of the guidelines as begin experienced in the past.

He was of the opinion that the cases of voided votes, vote buying and peaceful elections would be overcome through more awareness creation.
In his message, the FCT minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, who was represented by the acting Secretary, Social Development Secretariat (SDS), Hajia Safiya Umar called on workers to play good roles that would promote peaceful election in the area.
She said if the civil servants failed to sensitise the residents on the significances of a peaceful election, the right persons and steps would not be put in place.
