The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Sadiq Abubakar, has assured that the threat from the Sambisa forest was being monitored daily to ensure that the insurgents did not restrategise.
He gave the assurance during the end-of-the-year briefing on operations of the airforce in Maiduguri on Saturday.
Remarking after a special presentation by the air officer, Commanding AOC, AVM Nurudeen Balogun has said that it was important Nigerians join hands with them to keep the peace.
He told Nigerians not to be worried because the strength of the insurgents had been completely decimated adding that most of the sorties made after the distruction of ground zero in Sambisa, has brought the insurgents to their knees.
On a recent video clip in which the air force was accused of pounding civilians, the Chief said it was absolute falsehood and propaganda from the insurgents.
“If civilians were killed through by bombing, will you see the bodies intact the way they are displayed? It’s all lies don’t believe them,” he said
Abubakar expressed excitement about the comradeship existing between all the arms of the military, especially concerning the lafia dole theatre where the war had been won against the terrorists.
Earlier presenting the assessment for the year ending 2016, AVM Balogun said that the year was a good one year for them, especially in the various theatres where they were battling with criminals like Safe Heaven, Sharandaji, Delta Safe, Awatse and Lafia Dole.
