Ekweremadu
DEPUTY Senate Leader, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Alla, on Thursday, dismissed reports that senators of of All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus are planning to impeach the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu.
He equally said that he was not part of the plot that removed the former Senate Leader, Senator Ali Ndume, in the Senate.
Some APC senators, it will be recalled, had openly asked the Deputy Senate President, a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join APC.
Speaking with newsmen at the national secretariat of APC on Thursday, the Deputy Senate Leader, however, debunked the claim.
According to him, “all those things happened when I was out of this country. I was in Germany and it is not in my character to speak about what I don’t know, but as far as I’m concerned, there is nothing near to that. At least, I am back now, I am in the office. APC is a big family, everybody is welcome.
“We are strengthening the party base on our belief that this country needs to be united at this critical time in our history. I am absolutely sure that it will be a nice thing if he (Ekweremadu) decides to join APC . It will equally be nice if we are able to see any other person with intention to join our great party.”
He also revealed the reason he visited the party’s secretariat, saying “if you want me to tell you why I am here, we have primaries in Edo State to fill the vacancy left by the deputy governor who left the House of Representatives and I am the chairman of the committee. I just came to receive the normal briefing from my party.”
