No more factions in Delta APC, Erue says

The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Delta State has expressed optimism to take over the state from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) starting from wining the local government election slated for March 6, 2021.

Chairman of the party in the state, Mr Jones Erue disclosed this at an enlarged stakeholders’ meeting in Asaba on Monday that the party was more united now to wrestle power from PDP come 2023.

“At the moment, there are no more Ochei faction, O’tega faction, Ogboru faction or Omo-Agege faction. We have all united now to take over the governance of Delta State from the hands of the PDP led by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa,” he said.

Erue stated that the APC performed badly in the last general election in Delta State because of the disunity among members, calling on them to close ranks for the upcoming polls.

He declared that state party officials who were suspended in the heat of the crisis, have all been recalled.

On the March 6 local government elections in the state, Erue said nomination forms for female councillorship and chairmanship aspirants would be free across the state.

According to him, the aim was to encourage them to participate in the electoral process which he described as the breeding ground for budding politicians.

“As a party, we are desirous of taking over power from the PDP, and we must be ready not only to participate in the council polls but also to win in some local government areas,” he said.
